Mainstreams of the department
1. Development of psychological and pedagogical foundations in early education of foreign languages:
- Research of psychophysiological features of children aged 5-10 from early education of foreign languages perspective;
- Discovering, experimental check-up and proof of existing the most favourable periods for learning foreign language.
2. Study and determination of didactic and methodic conditions of children`s development through foreign language:
- Structure determination of language potential;
- Condition determination of language potential development;
- Didactic and methodic condition determination of psychic functions development, connected with speech.
3. Study of conditions in which educational and developmental environment for children of preschool age forms, and in which it would be possible to see:
- Intellectual development of a person through the language;
- Creating of positive motivation for learning;
- Conditions of forming positive emotions as the most important constituent of teaching younger children.
4. Psychological and pedagogical foundations of training teachers for realization humane and developmental education of foreign languages:
- Learning students to have professional skills to develop pupils using foreign language;
- Creating and approbation of Special Course on Methods of Early Education of Foreign Languages;
- Creating and approbation of new developmental ways of teaching children.
5. Selection of diagnostic methods in order to:
- Study psychophysiological processes and new formations of younger children;
- Study effectiveness of new ways of education and development of children through foreign language.
6. Determination of aims, content, forms of early education of foreign languages. Creating of programs and textbooks for kindergartens, workshops and primary school.
7. Study of experience about early education of foreign languages in Russia and abroad.
8. Preparation and carrying out conferences and seminars about early education of foreign languages problem.
Department achievements
- Project Program `Lingva` (the head of the project is T.I. Zelenina) was awarded on the II festival of innovational projects and programs Education is the contribution to the future (4.03.95) (registration number of participant is A071, 20.02.96).
- Grant of The Russian Humanitarian Science fund for the project Developmental Program `Lingva` #97-06-08175a was received by the staff of the department (1997-1999).
- On the basis of the department The Regional Science Centre of Early Language Education `Izh-Logos` was opened.
- Grant of the povolzhsky department of The Russian Academy of Education for the topic Intercultural Language Education and Bringing Up in Kindergartens and Primary Schools at the Polyethnical Region, code of the topic is 01.2.00309262 (2001-2006).
- Grant of The Russian Humanitarian Science Fund for the project Language and Intercultural Education in Poyethnical Region, code of the topic id 04-06-00326a (2004-2006).
Specialization Early Education of Foreign Languages in the Philology specialty was affirmed by the Educational and Methodical Union of Russian Universities on the plenary session (May, 17-19 2005).
