International students and lecturers have an opportunity to get acquainted both with the Russian culture and with the peculiarities of Udmurt region. To help them to learn more about the Udmurt culture, customs and traditions the International Relations Office organizes a number of excursions to different parts of Udmurtia in the frames of cultural program.

Among these excursions are excursions through the city of Izhevsk, to the Kalashnikov`s museum, to the Museum of Udmurt history, to the Peter Tchaikovsky`s house-museum, and the trip along the route of the Igra history museum.

The excursion through Izhevsk makes the guests of the capital of Udmurtia acquainted with the city, main points of its history, its beautiful and broad streets, monuments, buildings, pond and embankment. Our republic is proud of the facts that there is the biggest artificial pond of Russia in Izhevsk (its area is 22 sq. km).

During this excursion you may visit the Center of Udmurt National Trades and buy unique souvenirs made of birch bark, wood, rod, straw and flax.

Izhevsk is well known for its arm craftsmen, and you may learn a lot of interesting facts about arm industry of the Udmurt Republic in the Museum of Arms in `Izhmash`. And, of course, a wonderful exposition of arms is presented in the Museum of Kalashnikov, a person who brought a great fame all around the world to the Udmurt Republic, a well-known gunsmith designer of the submachine-gun AKM.

The museum of Udmurt history is an opportunity to learn a lot of interesting details of life in Izhevsk and Udmurtia during the centuries. Here you will find unique displays of Udmurts` way of life, their beliefs, customs and traditions.

Our Republic is proud of the fact that the great Russian composer Peter Tchaikovsky was born in Udmurtia in the small town of Votkinsk. The house, where he was born and lived for 8 years is a museum now. It is a unique memorial architectural ensemble.

The Igra history museum offers you a route along the cultural, historical and at the same time very beautiful places: you will have an opportunity to visit the Center of national creative work, where national Udmurt crafts and trades are revived; the Center of Udmurt culture, architectural and ethnographical museum, where you will be able to learn the way the Udmurt people of past centuries lived.
