The faculty enrolls 143 students. The lectures are conducted by 7 professors, 5 doctors of science, 1 assistant professor, 5 candidates of science.

The faculty of medical biologic technologies is the research and educational subdivision of the University. The main purpose is to prepare qualified Biochemists - professionals specialized in biochemistry and immunology, who are able to work in the medical and biological fields of the Republic industry.

Structure of the faculty

There are 2 specialized departments within the faculty:

Immunology department and Biochemistry department.

The following educational-scientific laboratories work at the Biochemistry department:

Technical biochemistry, molecular biology, molecular diagnosis, immunochemistry and immuno-techical analysis.

The immunology department comprises the experimental immunology and immuno-histological chemistry laboratories.

The students obtain the Biochemistry specialization. This specialization was established by the law order of Russian state universities committee in 1994. The period of a full-time study is 5 years.

The description of the activity of the specialist qualified in Biochemistry

The activity of the specialist should be aimed at:

Studying of structure and physical-chemical properties of chemical combinations, metabolism, research of molecular mechanisms of metabolism
Research of energy transformation in biologic systems, structures of biologic membranes and their role in energy generation.

The qualified biochemist should be ready to solve the following professional tasks:

To make scientific researches within biochemistry and molecular biology
To perform industrial work in the field of medical and veterinary biochemistry, in biotechnology, in immunology.
To continue education in the post graduate course.

The main purpose of the new Biochemistry specialization at the Udmurt State University is to train perfect biochemists for working in biologic industries and in Public Health institutions and in veterinary.

The necessity of further development of these branches and the training of specialists are caused by specific nature of resources and by territorial development of industry in Udmurt Republic.

A new task has already been worked out. This task requires the reorganization of high educational process. The students should work independently and should master studying process perfectly well.

The following scheme of educational process was taken as a principle. The scheme foresees the fundamental students training during the first 2 years and then the students major in one of the fields of biochemistry.

The students are admitted on competitive basis and according to the claims of the further organizations and institutions:

The Public Health Ministry of Udmurt Republic, the Ministry of the Agriculture and provisions of the Udmurt Republic, the Ltd "Izhbiovet" company.

Above mentioned institutions and other organizations of the Udmurt republic provide the graduates of the Biochemistry department with work. The students can major in two 2 scientific directions: biochemistry and immunology.
