- theoretical programming, mathematical logic (supervisor - Doctor of physical-mathematical sciences, Professor Nikolay N. Nepejvoda);
- theory of algorithms, theory of complexity, database (supervisor - Doctor of physical-mathematical sciences, Professor Anatoliy P. Beltjukov).

The Faculty conducted scientific research on the following problems:
- `two-dimensional accidental wanderings/roamings in the accidental environment` (supervisor: Doctor of physical and mathematical sciences Andrey V. Letchikov);
- `Management of dynamic object on unlimited time lag` (supervisor: Doctor Evgeniy L. Tonkov);
- `Problems of program and position management of the determinated and stochastic processes` (supervisor: Doctor Evgeniy L. Tonkov);
- `Fundamental problems of mathematics and mechanics` (supervisor: Doctor Evgeniy L. Tonkov);
- the following research projects were conducted under the supervision of Doctor Anatoliy P. Beltjukov: `Logic and informational systems`, `Deductive synthesis of algorithms inhering small complex classes`, `Deductive synthesis of algorithms of operated complexity`, `Information of high school`, `Information of educational environment, computer networks and systems of telecommunications of Udmurt Republic`;
- the following research projects were conducted under the supervision of Doctor Boris P. Kondratyev: `Non-ellipsoid gravitating figures of balance with inner streams`, `Resonant self-coordinated models of stellar systems`.
Since 1992 the Council for defending Candidate`s degree K_064.47.01 in specialty 01.01.02 - `differential equations` has been working at the Faculty (Council chairman - Doctor of physical and mathematical sciences, Professor V.A. Zhuravlev - Rector of the Udmurt State University; Deputy Chairman - Doctor of physical and mathematical sciences, Professor E.L. Tonkov, Secretary of scientific council - Candidate of physical and mathematical sciences, Associate Professor N.N. Petrov).
Institute of Mathematics and Informatics regularly publishes the collection `News of the Institute of Mathematics and Informatics` (the periodical edition, registration number ISSN 0201-8632, up to 4 numbers per year).
